About the band
Spanning almost a decade, Stonefed is Utah's longest lasting dance-jam band. Stonefed has played nearly every club venue Utah has to offer, has toured from western Colorado to the coast of Oregon, and is making headway in becoming a national act. A performance of jumpin'funk, jazzy reggae, deep rootsey blues and skillet fried latin country rock, Stonefed's mixed genre show appeals to all those who love to dance. Over four hundred bar gigs, live state-wide KUTV television broadcast, multiple festivals, and several live radio shows have made Stonefed a common name amongst musicians and live music seekers in Utah. Boasting mostly original material and an eclectic choice of covers Stonefed's live show is not one to be missed.
Stonefed brings it big time, bouncy licks and cool lyrics laid down over killer bass lines. Four talented musicians pour out a heavy dose of groovy music.
-Boise City Weekly

No matter how you put it, Stonefed is unique. Comparisons are hard to make, yet Stonefed, Galactic and Maceo all have a common trait -high energy.
-Daily Utah Chronicle

Winning fans over everywhere they play, Stonefed combines exquisite musicianship and boundless energy to create a show that has audiences raving.
-Grand Junction Free Press

If you're looking for instrumental danceable grooves akin to Vinyl or Galactic, Stonefed can do it.
If you prefer the freestyle jam rock with incredible changes, swells, and psychedelic sounds found in Phish, Stonefed has it down. At times their genre is indefinable....amazing.

DAVID MEALEY - Bass, Vocals
David, a born and bred Moabite, began playing the bass at age thirteen. Over the last fourteen years he has been part of numerous projects engaging in genres of Jazz, Funk, Rock, and Heavy Metal. He's currently involved with two other bands: The Moab Jazz Quintet and The Remnants of Rock. His favorite is playing in the pocket with the Stonefed boys from the desert, where David blends heavy funk grooves with aggressive bass licks akin to Victor Wooten, Jaco Pastorius, and Les Claypoole.

JON D. OLSCHEWSKI - Guitar, Vocals
As the original guitar player since the band's founding, Jon has fused his soulful blues-funk style with Stonefed's past and present musicians. Countless hours of listening to Rock, Blues, Funk, Jazz, Reggae, Latin, Hip-hop, and Country give him a unique musical taste. Jon's song writing, arranging, improvisation, music theory, and creativity are notable contributions from the Moab-born troubadour. His two Missoula, Montana based projects, The Coop (four-piece Funk with pianist Zack Aldrich formerly of New Orleans Juice), and Stomping Ground (Country Rock n Blues Quintet featuring members of Cold Mountain and opening band for superstars Sawyer Brown) have given him a new perspective on musicianship. After a decade of playing guitar and a thousand jams with hundreds of players, Jon has found his place back at home with the Stonefed family.

ED STONE - Drums, Vocals
Ed's primal passion for music runs in his blood. His mother's family comes from New Orleans, birthplace of Jazz and Funk. His father, a music connoisseur, and his grand father a drummer, had sparked Ed at the age of 13 to study music theory and drum for school jazz and concert band ensembles. In highschool he had expressive rock and folk projects where he practiced drums, guitar, singing, and song writing for festivals and social events. Ed formed Stonefed with Dave and Jon in the summer of '98, and has been the back beat drumming force since the start. Ed also plays drums and percussion with the Moab Jazz Quintet, Retroglyph, and the Moab Community Dance Band. Ed toured nationally with blues artists Johnny Rawls, Eddie Kirkland, Percy Strothers, and Johnny Marshall, and has played alongside the Williams Brothers, Gigi Love, and the Gospel Queen of Denver-Madam W.M. Andrews.

JASPER GROFF - Guitar, Vocals
On New Year's Eve, in the winter on 2003, Jasper joined Stonefed as an impromptu fill-in guitarist. Being friends with the entire band, and having enjoyed their songs for many years. It wasn't long before Jasper felt at home as a permanent player. Inspiration from Widespread Panic, Gov't Mule, Frank Zappa, and Phish influence Jasper to bring an enthusiastic Rock n Roll attitude to song creation, and even more to the stage. With the help of Stonefed and encouragement from former Band Member/ Music Gear Guru Joe Lema, Jasper's playing, tone, and style have blossomed, fueling the musical party forward.
